Librarians interested in serving teens meet every other month, usually during the morning of the first Monday of the month, for programming and issues more specific to young adults. Past topics have included lexiles and readers advisory.

Alliance Library System also holds an annual Summer Reading Kickoff party, usually in February, to inspire librarians in their planning of summer reading programs and to encourage colleagues to share best practices. In April or May, Alliance Library System holds a Spring Fling focusing on a relavant topic for the year. Past topics have included a Literature for youth institute as well as a storytelling festival.

Come one, come all to the new Young Adult Librarians' Alliance meeting on Monday, January 11 at 2 pm at Normal Public Library! Anyone who works with teens, or wants to start, is welcome. This meeting, the first in a series, is intended to replace the now-defunct YA meetings hosted by ALS. We'll decide on January 11 how often we want to meet and what we want to do at our meetings -- idea share? Feature speakers? Come contribute your ideas on Monday, January 11 @ Normal PL!
